Destrehan resident P. Joey Murray III is reappointed
P. Joey Murray III has been reappointed to the Port of South Louisiana Board of Commissioners by Gov. Bobby Jindal. Murray, a Destrehan resident, is one of seven commissioners on the port's board and is Jindal's appointee. He was first appointed to the commission in February 2000.
Murray is a partner in the Murray Architects firm and in the Rotolo's restaurant company.
The port encompasses 54 Mississippi River miles in St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and St. James parishes.
Blaise Gravois of St. James Parish also recently was appointed to the commission, replacing his cousin Gregory Gravois, who died last year.
St. Charles Parish resident V.J. St. Pierre Jr. said he plans to reappoint Raymond Fryoux to the commission. Fryoux's term expired Jan. 9. The appointment needs to be ratified by three-fourths of the St. Charles Parish Council, according to state law.
The other commissioners are Robert "Poncho" Roussel, Rusty Gaudet, Louis Joseph and Sheila Bonnette.
