The Jefferson Parish Council took the following actions Wednesday: Carnival stands: Selected Buisson Creative Strategies and Event Rental to provide viewing stands for Carnival. New lobbyists: Chose Adams & Reese to represent the parish in Washington, D.C., and the Governmental Consulting Group to lobby in Baton Rouge for the next two years. The Jefferson Parish Council took the following actions Wednesday:

Carnival stands: Selected Buisson Creative Strategies and Event Rental to provide viewing stands for Carnival.

New lobbyists: Chose Adams & Reese to represent the parish in Washington, D.C., and the Governmental Consulting Group to lobby in Baton Rouge for the next two years.

Midway mitigation: Hired Barriere Construction Co. to do $2.3 million worth of improvements to Midway Drive under the Hazard Mitigation Grant program. Barriere was the lowest bidder.

Drainage improvements: Hired Subterranean Construction for $1.5 million to make drainage improvements under the Bunche Village Community Development Block Grant program. Subterranean was the lowest bidder.

Brass fittings: Hired Cimsco, LA Utilities Supply and A.Y. McDonald to provide brass fittings to the Public Works and Water departments for the next year under three contracts that collectively aren't to exceed $919,100. The companies were the lowest bidders on the three contracts.

Drain and lift: Hired Nortex Concrete Lift & Stabilization Inc. for two years to lift and seal various drainage structures. Nortex was the low bidder at $436,900.

Game delay: Added 42 days to a $1.9 million contract with J.A. "Jack" Julius Jr. Inc. for construction of baseball fields at Park Des Familles. The new completion date is Nov. 7. The extension was a response to a delay in receiving a sports light fixture package, which was paid for when $402,330 was previously added to the contract cap.

Survey work: Retained Landmark Surveying Inc. to provide survey work on an as-needed basis for one year at a cost not to exceed $200,000.
