He's expected to continue working at his lobbying business
Former Rep. Billy Tauzin, R-Chackbay, who recently opened a lobbying business after leaving as CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing Association, has a new job. He was named last week as the chief industry relations officer and board member for CaptureRX, the pharmaceutical benefits management corporation.
He's expected to continue working with his son, Thomas, at their Washington lobbying shop, Tauzin Consultants. Thomas already is registered as a lobbyist for CaptureRX.
Tauzin, 68, who represented Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District for 24 years, left Congress in January 2005, shortly after he was diagnosed with a rare form of intestinal cancer. "I was given less than a 1 percent chance of survival; thanks to innovative drug therapies, I overcame the odds," Tauzin said. "I see my new role with CaptureRX as an opportunity to increase the access that under-insured folks have to these life-saving pharmaceuticals." The company didn't disclose Tauzin's salary.
