He is the guest of honor at Louisiana Day, part of Quebec City's annual Le Fetes de la Nouvelle France
Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne was in Canada this week meeting with officials in Quebec City to drum up support for Louisiana tourism and to tout its seafood safety.
Dardenne said before he left Wednesday that he also wanted to extend an invitation to Louisiana's French-speaking brothers and sisters to join the state's residents in celebrating Louisiana's 200th anniversary as a state.
Dardenne said he also made a pitch to the French Canadians to join with south Louisiana Cajuns in celebrating the Grand Reveil Acadien, or the Great Acadian Awakening, an event designed to celebrate the state's French culture and heritage in October.
Aides said besides meeting with Canada's minister of tourism, Dardenne was the guest of honor Friday at Louisiana Day, part of Quebec City's annual Le Fetes de la Nouvelle France.
