Zoning change requested by Whole Foods on Magazine has been withdrawn for now

The City Planning Commission meets at 1:30 p.m. today to consider giving the green light to a movie studio proposed by Sam Farnet, who owns Joey K's, to be located in a Lower Garden District warehouse complex.

The commission was also scheduled to consider a request by Whole Foods Market at 5600 Magazine Street to change its zoning to a C1-A commercial district, but the request has been withdrawn while the store continues negotiating wiht its neighbors.

The store also wants a conditional use permit to allow for expanded hours for loading and trash pickup, more 18-wheeler deliveries, displaying and selling merchandise outside the store and live entertainment.

Store officials met with the Audubon-Riverside Neighborhood Association earlier this month to attempt to garner support for the changes.

The public can attend today's meeting, which will be held in the commission's 9th floor conference room at 1340 Poydras St.
