The on-again, off-again traffic cameras apparently are on again in New Orleans. What do you think?
The New Orleans City Council voted 6-1 today to transfer oversight of the city's traffic cameras to the Police Department, in an attempt to make the system conform to the City Charter.
NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas said the department should start issuing tickets to violators caught on red-light and speed-enforcement cameras almost immediately.
The council also made the ordinance retroactive, in an attempt to collect previously issued tickets that have been in legal limbo.
