Responding to Christine Harvey's story, "Plans for subdivision near Mandeville to be assessed," reader perplexed commented:
"There are houses for sale all over the parish and a lot of empty lots. Besides the obvious problem of jobs, credit, insurance and down payments, many of these houses and lots simply no longer meet market demands. New homes are being downsized all over America because that is where the demand is. West St. Tammany went high end over the past 10 years with minimum lot requirements and demand for upscale amenities. Those days are gone and perhaps gone for a long time. It is quite possible that this new development will not dampen demand for the current market basket of houses and lots available in St. Tammany since it is meeting a different need and buyer. That being said, the developer should do everything possible to ease any potential traffic problems created."
