- The Gretna City Council has decided to give $100,000 to the privately run Gretna Heritage Festival. That came despite some complaints from residents.

- A contractor who bid $58,000 on a Jefferson Parish Housing Authority job said the agency's executive director instructed him to quote $49,000 and bill the balance in change orders. Turns out the director could approve spending up to $50,000 on his own but needed board approval for anything more, WVUE television reports.
- A drug store and a car wash have been built in Metairie on the former Airline Drive sites of two crime-ridden motels. And neighbors are thrilled with the improvement, WDSU says.
