The Mayor's Office of Economic Development and New Orleans City Councilwoman Kristin Gisleson Palmer will sponsor an information session next week in Algiers on the Restoration Tax Abatement Program.
The event will be Sept. 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Drive.
The purpose of the information session is to inform the Algiers business community about opportunities within the newly created Midtown Algiers and South Algiers Economic Development Districts.
The tax abatement program freezes real estate property taxes at the pre-improvement level for five years as an incentive to owners to improve commercial and residential property purchased and redeveloped in either the Downtown Development District, a designated economic development district or a recognized local historic district. Participants in the program are eligible for a second five-year tax freeze if approved by the City Council.
The program is open to all Louisiana businesses and homeowners with existing structures in qualifying locations.
To RSVP for the information session, email tmjackson@nola.gov. Visit www.louisianaeconomicdevelopment.com/page/restoration-tax-abatement for additional information about the tax abatement program.
