With no more Crescent City Connection tolls to help fund the Algiers Point-Canal St. ferry, residents gathered this week in a way that only New Orleanians can to bring awareness to the problem.
A small parade was held on the ferry as people wore their swim suits and carried life rafts in a symbolic gesture that they might have to swim across the river if the boat no longer runs due to a lack of money.
The Algier's Brass Band lead the parade and a Mardi Gras float featuring Louis Armstrong was part of the show.
