Gov. Bobby Jindal has appointed Robert Heitmeier of Metairie, Lee Jackson of Westwego and Louis Wattigney Jr. of Belle Chasse to the board of the New Orleans and Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots for the Mississippi River. The three- member board reports to the governor "all cases of neglect of duty, habitual drunkenness and gross violations of its rules, and upon referral by the governor, investigate cases and report findings with possible recommendations for penalties," the governor's office said.
Heitmeier is a riverboat pilot with the New Orleans-Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots Association. He is being reappointed to the board and will be its president, according to the governor's office.
Jackson is the chief executive officer of Jackson Offshore Operations and Jackson Offshore Holdings LLC. He, too, is returning to the board.
Wattigney is a pilot instructor at Maritime Pilot Institute.
