Carrying out one of its annual duties, the Parish Council will sit as a board of review over the property tax rolls and open a public hearing for residents and business owners to voice their complaints.

The council then is scheduled to vote on whether to accept the rolls as presented by Assessor Lawrence Chehardy.

Because this is not a major reassessment year, most property owners who have not undertaken recent renovations or additions likely will see few if any changes to their assessments and resulting property tax bills. The next comprehensive review of all property values in Jefferson Parish is in 2012.

The Parish Council meets at 10 a.m. in the General Government Building, 200 Derbigny Street, in Gretna.
