Covington's first-ever business resource workshop is being hailed as a success and its supporters already are promoting other such events to boost economic development in the city. A full house of entrepreneurs took part in the workshop last week at the Greater Covington Center.

Professional business consultants and elected officials spoke one-on-one with business owners and potential business owners after outlining programs available to assist them in developing and growing a business in Covington. The event was sponsored by the city government.

Program participants included Covington Councilman Larry Rolling, who served as facilitator, St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister, Covington Mayor Mike Cooper, state Rep. John Schroder, R-Covington, Brenda Bertus, executive director of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, and Brad Schroeder of Covington Business Association.

"Our Covington Business Resource Workshop was a great success...a home run, and our business community is already looking forward to our next Business Workshop," Rolling said. "If our Business community is strong ....our City is strong."

The workshop was designed to give local business owners the tools and expertise needed to help businesses thrive, and to give potential business owners the resources to begin successful new enterprises.
