Price was a required part of the so-called RFP selection process until 2010, when the council voted to remove price from the evaluation criteria
Jefferson Parish President John Young is proposing to mandate that price be part of vendor evaluations when the parish seeks professionals through Requests for Proposals. Most Parish Council members said this week they support the concept, but that they want to ensure a company's technical qualifications - not just price - still determines who is ranked higher.
Price was a required part of the so-called RFP selection process until 2010, when the council voted to remove price from the evaluation criteria.
Louisiana state law prohibits using price to judge architects, engineers and landscape architects. Young's proposal would restore the mandate that price be included in scoring all professionals except those three fields exempt in state law.
Here's is a story detailing Young's proposal, and another article explaining council members' positions in the matter.
