A code enforcement sweep around the western edge of Fat City turned up 75 infractions, Jefferson Parish said Thursday. The effort focused on the Metairie streets bounded by West Esplanade and Edenborn avenues, Veterans Memorial Boulevard and Neyrey Drive.
The parish administration said its Code Enforcement inspectors issued seven citations to properties for violations such as high grass, trash and inoperable vehicles. One property is being monitored for storm damage.
Twenty-six vehicles were tagged for removal, and one building was referred for sewage leaking onto sidewalk, the administration said.
Entergy Louisiana found 19 unsealed meters and one that needed changing. A possible electrical code violation was discovered at one location.
Cox Communications discovered eight unauthorized cable television connections, and the parish's Department of Environmental Affairs issued 12 citations, the administration said.
