The Jefferson Parish Council on Wednesday:
- Terrytown. Under Oakwood: Hired low bidder The Three C's Properties Inc. for $1.5 million to improve subsurface drainage around the Oakwood Canal in
- Transit coaches: Added $1.5 million to a contract to buy four buses through a grant from the Federal Transit Administration.
- Suckers: Bought two new vacuum trucks from Kenworth of South Louisiana for $623,856. Kenworth submitted the cheapest bid.
- Traffic study: Hired the engineering firms Linfield, Hunter & Junius and Burk-Kleinpeter to provide traffic engineering services for one year at a cost not to exceed $200,000 each.
- Tunnel money: Asked the Legislature, Gov. Bobby Jindal and the state Department of Transportation and Development for state money to fix the Harvey Tunnel.
- New computers: At Councilman Paul Johnston's request, bought three computers for the Harahan Police Department.
- Debris deferred: Postponed until June 13 the selection of a company to collect debris after a natural disaster.
- Zip codes: Directed the Jefferson legislative delegation to help change the association of zip codes 70123 and 70121 from New Orleans to Jefferson.
- Park adviser: At Chairman Elton Lagasse's request, appointed Judy Colgan to the Lafreniere Park Advisory Board.
- Job extension: Extended interim Telecommunications Director Janet Gray's tenure to September.
