The New Orleans City Council's Cable, Telecommunications and Technology Committee will meet this afternoon. Among other things, it will discuss how a Texas legal case could impact the city's ability to regulate where wireless telephone service providers can build communication facilities.
William Aaron, a former city attorney and the committee's longtime legal adviser, is scheduled to give a report on a recent 5th Circuit Court of Appeals decision in the city of Arlington, Texas, vs. the Federal Communications Commission.
The panel also will hear an update from consultant Valeri LeBlanc on the ability to broadcast programming from the council chamber during emergencies.
