Cuban oil rig is drilling an exploratory well in Cuban waters
Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, thinks there is a lesson to be learned from the news that a Cuban oil rig is drilling an exploratory well in Cuban waters, less than 60 miles south off Key West, Fla.
"It's a sad day when Raul Castro is more open to exploring for domestic energy than the American president," Scalise said. "It's time for President Obama to stand up to radical environmentalists and finally recognize the need to create high-paying jobs here at home while improving our energy security.
"We cannot afford to be dependent on Middle Eastern countries for our oil, and it's unfortunate that President Obama keeps turning his back on American workers and American energy while he continues to make us more dependent on Middle Eastern countries who don't like us."
